Finnish companies Aker Arctic and Iceye to use satellite data for ice information

Companies aim to enable better decision making in the maritime industry affected by sea ice. By combining SAR (synthetic-aperture radar) data from Iceye’s microsatellites with data from maritime environments provides new services to marine users. During a one-year pilot phase Aker Arctic aims to develop and test these services with its partners. In addition to this, Iceye is launching two more SAR satellites to continue to increase data availability.
