VTT: Helping the world with space technology

VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd is one of the leading research and technology organizations in Europe.

It has more than 20 years of experience in millimetre wave, communication and sensor technologies. VTT has participated in many Earth observation and deep space missions with European Space Agency, NASA and the major space companies.

VTT also operates MilliLab, an ESA External Laboratory on Millimetre Wave Technology.

This micro and millimetre wave expertize helps VTT also in developing 5G communications technologies in both space and on Earth. This is especially interesting in the scope of New Space applications.

VTT is as well pioneering the small satellite missions with the world’s first visible and infrared miniature hyperspectral imagers. This know-how is based on the strong background in building scientific instruments for large space missions like the Ozone monitoring instrument OMI, Planck and Cassini.

In addition to the measurement and hardware teams, VTT has a group dedicated to processing remote sensing data.

Recently VTT has boldly stated that it is trying to solve the world’s most demanding problems ranging from resource insufficiency to fighting climate change. The space applications and technology is in an important role in this, as VTT masters the whole development chain from sensor hardware to the data solutions.

They are constantly looking for companies and research partners to join them in their mission.
