110th anniversary of the Sodankylä Geophysical Observatory

The 110th anniversary of the Sodankylä Geophysical Observatory (SGO) will be celebrated at the Sodankylä Space Campus on September 1, 2023. Parts of the event can be attended virtually. The hybrid part of the event consists of speeches from the Ministry, the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters, and the University of Oulu, as well as a seminar session on SGO's history and its current developments (10:00 – 11:30). Onsite, there is free admission to the guided walk in the Tähtelä area (15:30 – 16:30) and the outdoor activity on Paavo's trail (14:00 – 15:30). Due to space constraints, the remaining parts of the celebration will be held as an invitation-only event.
