Strategy measures: International influence

SPACE ADMINISTRATION
The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment will review the composition and powers of the Finnish Space Committee and improve its efficiency. In addition, ministries will promote the establishment of a centralised space administration.

INTERNATIONAL REPRESENTATION
The Finnish Space Committee maps the members of international bodies, expert groups and standardisation organisations and in the future will coordinate on the appointment of members and the activities of the members.

MARKETING
Ministries, agencies, companies and research organisations jointly market Finnish space expertise and ensure its visibility internationally and actively and systematically promote the access of Finns positions of influence in international organisations.

INTERNATIONAL PROVISIONS
The ministries concerned are involved in defining international legislation in the EU, in COPUOS and through other international cooperation, in particular promoting the sustain-able use of space, new business opportunities and security aspects.

EUROPEAN SPACE AGENCY PROGRAMMES
Finland's ESA delegation, companies and research organisations are active in brainstorming and planning of new ESA programmes and missions, in making use of rapidly developed and affordable small satellites/IOD or other more agile solutions. The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment and Business Finland will examine the possibility of additional funding for ESA's optional programmes.

EU SPACE PROGRAMME
The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment and the Ministry of Transport and Communications contribute to the development of the EU Space Programme in a manner that promotes the sustainable use of space, new innovations and business opportunities. This objective will also be taken into account during Finland 's forthcoming EU Presidency.

IMPROVED COVERAGE
The Ministry of Transport and Communications promotes the resolution of satellite navigation coverage problems concerning Finland and the Arctic region and the better availability of remote sensing data and telecommunications connections.
