Call for members for new International Mars Exploration Working Group
DEADLINE: 20 OCTOBER 2025
The International Mars Exploration Working Group (IMEWG) is planning to establish a sub-working group to identify international science and planetary protection priorities to achieve for the transition from robotic, science-driven Mars exploration to future missions involving both robots and astronauts.
This group will operate through regular virtual meetings over approximately one year, through September 2026, with an in-person working meeting scheduled at the midpoint in March or April 2026.
If you are interested in volunteering to be a part of this group, please prepare a motivation letter and brief CV as detailed below and send it by 20 October 2025 to [email protected].
The motivation letter should be no more than one page and explicitly include:
- What is your motivation to participate in this working group?
- What added value can you bring to this working group?
- What are recent and relevant expertise/experience related to the specific scope of this working group?
- Would you like to participate in the science or planetary protection team?
The curriculum vitae should be no more than two pages and highlight:
- Current and recent positions and responsibilities in the last five years, such as leading or contributing to relevant teams or working groups, or significant activities beyond this time frame.
- Up to five most relevant publications.
We are looking to ensure participation by the international Mars science community, and a range of perspectives on the questions, so would appreciate that if you feel you have something valuable to contribute, please consider doing so.
