The Europlanet Society is an organization dedicated to promoting the development of European planetary science and related fields for the benefit of the community. It is open to individual members and organizations, welcoming anyone interested in planetary science, whether they are researchers, industry representatives, professionals, or enthusiasts.

Goals and Activities of the Europlanet Society

The Europlanet Society aims to expand and support a diverse and inclusive planetary community across Europe through its 10 regional hubs. The organization also seeks to build its profile among stakeholders such as the public sector, media, policymakers, and industry, as well as through educational activities. Additionally, Europlanet supports Europe's leading role in planetary science by fostering connections at both national and international levels.

Europlanet builds on the legacy of 20 years of Europlanet projects funded by the European Commission, providing a sustainable legacy for infrastructure. This includes cross-border facilities, virtual access services and tools, education, and other services developed through these initiatives.

Europlanet Science Congress

The Europlanet Science Congress (EPSC) is the annual meeting and conference of the Europlanet Society, bringing together planetary scientists from around the world. First held in Berlin in 2006, EPSC is the largest planetary science conference in Europe, regularly attracting around 1,200 participants.

EPSC-DPS Joint Meetings

In 2011, EPSC joined forces with the American Division for Planetary Sciences (DPS), holding the first joint Meeting in Nantes, France. The purpose of these joint meetings is to unite the European and American planetary science communities and bring together two major meetings that gather planetary scientists from around the world.

Following Nantes, joint meetings have been held in Pasadena, California in 2016, Geneva, Switzerland in 2019, and San Antonio, Texas in 2023. This year, the third joint European meeting will be held at Finlandia Hall in the heart of Helsinki. With record attendance anticipated from the last two EPSCs, over 2,000 participants are expected to head to Helsinki this year.

Conference Exhibition

The exhibition area is located in the lobby of Finlandia Hall, near the large conference halls, providing excellent visibility for all exhibitors throughout the conference. There is space for both larger and smaller exhibition booths, and each exhibitor can have a booth tailored to their needs.
