Updates regarding the EU Space Law initiative

Proposal for the EU Space Regulation has been published, which means that the domestic consultation event on the legislative initiative is to be continued.

Proposal for an EU Regulation on Space has been published. 

The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment organized a consultation event on the EU Space Law initiative on 25 October 2023, where actors of Finland’s space sector had the opportunity to present their preliminary views on the initiative. After this, two news items have been published on the SpaceFinland website: you can read the news item from February 2024 here and the news item from March 2025 here. The first non-paper of Finland and the non-paper of Finland and Sweden concerning the EU’s initiative have also been published in connection with the news items.

Based on the now published proposal for an EU Space Regulation, a domestic consultation event is to be organized again. Actors of Finland’s space sector have been welcomed to present their views on the topic on 16 July 2025.
